Review of The Westerner (1940) by J.b. R — 09 May 2011
Fantastic western from Wyler. Mostly an interior film with top-notch photography by Toland. Brennen is a tour-de-force but it is Coop that steals the show. His understated performance of the manipulative Cole ties all the elements of the film together.
Last scene ruins everything at the end.
