Review of The Way of the Gun (2000) by Jeff H — 12 May 2008
Two hitmen come up with a plan which is set to make them very rich and perhaps bring about their early retirements. Del Toro is the mentor and Phillippe the pupil and, needless to say, their simple plan takes numerous turns for the worst.
Storyline sounds routine but the film plays out in a way which is anything but. Usual Suspects writer Chris McQuarrie is the man at the helm of this project and it shows: sharp dialogue, violence for humour and 'businessmen' who you wouldn't trust with your locker keys.
Excellent cameos from Juliette Lewis, Taye Diggs and James Caan and a whole lot of guns and blood, not for the faint of heart or the squeamish.
