Review of The Way of the Gun (2000) by Bill M — 16 Jul 2015
Seriously, insanely underrated crime, action thriller from Usual Suspects writer Chris McQuarrie, it's a hard, violent, funny and very clever spin on the genre, with a hugely witty, beautifully written script, an unusual plot full of unexpected developments, and a cool subverting of genre cliches, plus some of the most realistic, badass shootouts ever filmed.
No one seems to have fucking heard of it, this is a crime everyone must rectify at once because this is really as good as prime Tarantino or Sam (Wild Bunch) Pekinpah, and why it isnt more heralded as the masterpiece of crime cinema it is, is very confusing.
