Review of The Warriors (1979) by Ana O — 02 Apr 2010

Ok, I KNOW I am gonna get major bashing for this, but I just cannot comprehend the praise this movie gets. At all.

I watch 'The Warriors' with my brother two weeks ago. He kept telling how great the movie was and how I would like it. He even showed me be dozens of reviews and rotten tomotoe's and IMBD's ratings on it(which was a good play on his part, he knows I won't bother watching anything without seeing stellar reviews). So he managed to convince me.

So, the movie started, the credits rolled. The random dialog between character and then switching over to the subways felt a little jarring. And long. Really long. But thats not the point. First, the acting. Wait, what acting? Seriously the acting was HORRIBLE. The dialog between character was so laughable unbelievable and cheesy it was REALLY hard to take any of them seriously or even care what came out of their mouths. The acting in general was shit. I mean, that guy you played Swan only knew two emotions:brooding and pouting. And that is all he ever did in the movie. The only decent actors were the ones playing Vermin and Fox.

The directing felt really choppy and weirdly paced. Especial the random comic stills they had going on between scenes.

There's more, but I'm pressing on time. Seriously, this has to be one of the most over hyped pieces of trash ever. OK, I've seen worse, but the overhyping made it that much more worser. Am I missing something here? Where's this great movie everything keeping talking about? Is it one of those cases of 'so bad it's good"? Help me out please, are standards that low now a days?
