Review of The Warriors (1979) by John A — 23 Jul 2014
This Cult Classic Is An Excellently Made Piece Of Cinema Which Is Overlooked Quite A Lot. Director Walter Hill Along With Producer Lawrence Gordon Have A Cast Of Unknowns Giving Excellent Performances, With An Excellent Script, A Great Soundtrack And A Plot That Was Original For It's Time, That Has Since Been Overused Slightly.
The Warriors Must Fight Their Way Back To Their Home Turf Of Coney Island After Their Framed For Killing The Leader Of The Biggest New York Gang At A Conclave. Standing Between Central Park & Coney However Are Some Of The Baddest New York Street Gangs Out For The Warriors' Heads.
This Excellent Piece Of Cinema Shows 9 Desperate People Just Trying To Get Home, Unarmed And Fighting For Their Lives While Trying To Avoid Both Rival Gangs And The Police. Michael Beck & James Remar Give Outstanding Performances.
Meanwhile The Film's Soundtrack Is Great With Some 70's Classics, A Great Instrumental Score By Barry DeVorzen & An Excellent End Credits Song Written By DeVorzen & Joe Walsh, Especially For This Film.
In The City Was Re-Recorded By The Eagles That Same Year With Walsh On Vocals, For Their 1979 Album The Long Run.
