A period piece that is actually â" in its own way â" a late 70s rock opera⦠that desperately tries not to be. No, there's no singing, there's no dancing. But so many portions of this movie have a singsong way of getting past the violence, and giving a glossy tint to what could be a ruthless, gritty piece.
