Despite the bad reviews, this to me was a gripping affair. And yes, you've probably seen tons of horror films with a premise and a twist like that. But what lifts this above the standard chiller is John Carpenter's distinct directorial style - clean framing, masterful control of suspense and ethereal minimalist score.
