Review of The War on Democracy (2007) by Tom G — 26 Sep 2007
Looks at the recent political history of South America where countries such as Venezuela, Guatemala, Bolivia, El Salvador and Chile have had democratically elected governments overthrown by American backed dictatorships. It also looks at the mass media in propagating the ideas of American leaders and elite classes.
Pilger an Australian Born, English based journalist produces a different style of documentary than somebody like Michael Moore. They don't provide the same 'entertainment' as Moore's films. But in contrast he's well researched, doesn't hog the camera and his interviews are better presented. Pilger also presents his arguments as objective as could be possible.
This won't appeal to many, but is worth watching.
