Review of The Walk (2015) by Robert B — 12 Jan 2016
Ok so the story is very interesting. It's a pretty cool romance and thriller. Overall, definitely not the best film Robert Zemeckis has ever made. The VFX were just so that you could notice them - they just weren't flawlessly integrated into the practical filmmaking and that was a bummer for me.
On top of that, they didn't know when to let Joseph Gordon-Levitt's narration totally go away and let the story tell itself. All throughout we have this narration punching back in to describe EXACTLY what you're seeing and what Petit is thinking. It's totally bananas and unnecessary.
JGL did a good job in the role, but was limited by the script and it seemed like Zemeckis was really phoning it in. Not that great a film, tragically.
