Review of The Wages of Fear (1953) by Beau H — 28 Jan 2010
The first 40 minutes of set up scenes takes a little too long. But as soon as the truck driving is mentioned this story goes from ho-hum to extraordinary. Every scene during that last hour and a half are flawless.
Clouzot is brilliant at building tension. No score, the brilliant editing and letting us know what's on the line for these characters makes for an edge of your seat experience that won't easily be topped.
