Review of The Wages of Fear (1953) by Mat T — 08 Sep 2011
Excellent film. With a few negatives. First of all, the ending... that was totally unnecessary as well as very predictable. I can understand wanting to stay away from happy endings (and even that wasn't really necessary here), but there were better alternatives to this ending. Even I could've come up with a few better ones.
My second complaint is a minor one, regarding the other vehicle. Did we not deserve at least some explanation as to what happened? Those guys had almost as much screen time as the main characters, then suddenly they're gone with no real explanation?
Outside of those complaints, this is a near perfect story with excitement and tension. Maybe not for the whole ADD crowd of today, but for those of us with attention spans of over 15 minutes.
