Review of The Wackness (2008) by Elissa W — 01 Feb 2009
This is a pretty good movie. The first thing I noticed was that this is a very different, almost unrecognizable side of Josh Peck. I would not have guessed that this is the same lovable goofball that has been seen on Nickelodeon for so many years.
But this is not necessarily a bad thing, his acting was pretty phenomenal, not at all what I was expecting. This film has a very nice story, and a crew of great characters. Ben Kingsley is superb, as is Olivia Thirlby (in a significantly different role than her go-round as Ellen Page's witty best friend in Juno).
It kind of upsets me that this film got such a limited release, and that the Academy Awards completely ignored it. Definitely worth 99 minutes out of your day.
