Review of The Wackness (2008) by Jose M — 23 Feb 2009
A very solid film with great performances from Josh Peck and Ben Kingsley. It is a film that really succeeds in capturing the backdrop of 1994 New York City, amidst Giuliani's efforts to rid the city of crime and indecency.
Josh Peck is remarkably talented for a product of Nickelodeon, and I was surprised to see him hold his own against a talent the likes of Academy Award Winner Ben Kingsley. Olivia Thirlby was also not only the eye candy of the film (she is remarkably beautiful in my opinion), but also the breakout talent of the film, as the love interest of Peck's pot dealing protagonist.
She carries a pivotal role on her shoulders and really nails it. All in all, a good effort that I agree could have been done even better.
