Review of The Visit (2015) by Lars M — 06 Mar 2016
I am amazed to see how high this rating is, and how many reviewers are saying such positive things about this movie. Sorry, but, the found footage in this movie was ridiculous and unbelievable. While the kids are good actors, they were not believable as kids.
The Grandmother, although I can imagine her being better in another venue, was not scary at all. The movie tries to make old age scary and something to automatically dread, which is not much of a scary premise.
The ending tries to pull out a tear jerker, and absolutely has no place in this movie. In short, its all over the place. It's not that funny, poignant, or scary, as it tries to be. Perhaps that is Shayamalan's issue these days.
He appears to be trying to hard. His show that he helped produce, Crimson Peak was fairly well done, but, this attempt at a found footage horror film, had potential, but, that's it. And then, the kid raps at the end.
Again.
