Review of The Visit (2015) by Brian S — 04 Aug 2018
M. Night Shyamalan's take on the found footage genre is good. The film starts out as a happy-go-lucky family film, with a few laughs kicking in, but as the runtime continues, it becomes a demented horror movie, that boasts some hair-raising jumpscares, and it's all held together by Olivia DeJonge and Ed Oxenbould, two talented child actors.
It's a spooky examination of dangerous mental illness, and overall, it's an honorable entry into a genre that is exhausted, and that has had many awful entries in the last few years. Recommended !!
