M Night Shyamalan returns to a form that isn't quite the Sixth Sense, but miles better than The Last Airbender. The found footage angle on this film is surprisingly well thought out, no unnecessary music when there shouldn't be, and the movie looks like it was filmed a little unprofessionally, which is great when you look at which characters are behind the camera.

The reason for the movie being filmed in the first place actually makes a lot of sense too, which is something found footage films have forgotten in the past. As for the movie itself, is not perfect, but it does balance its humor and tension very nicely.

The plot twist at the end is genuinely surprising, and believable which is a breath of fresh air. The main flaws in this film for me was the pacing, it got very slow at times and other times it seemed unnecessarily fast paced.

The grandpa character didn't have much to do until the end, and I found the boy in the movie to be just very annoying and didn't offer much to the film, besides that, the film wasn't filled with a ton of scary moments, but the tension and creeping unsettling feeling were definitely there which I appreciated.

In the end, I did enjoy The Visit quite a bit more than I did with Shyamalan films in the past, and recent found footage films in general. The ending to this film, like I stated before I found to be amazing, and it mostly stayed away from false scares and some stupid found footage tropes, like someone jumping up in from the camera and yelling "Hey!!" just for kicks.
