Review of The Virgin Spring (1960) by April M — 08 Mar 2007
The premise of this film is a lot deeper and more original than it might seem upon a first viewing. It follows a young girl who goes to church one morning/afternoon. The characterization of every single person in this film is carnal in its own way, particularly that of Ingeri, the pregnant half-sister and the "criminals".
From the very beginning of her journey to church, you expect something to go terribly wrong, particularly when the two girls separate in the middle of their walk.
