Review of The Virgin Spring (1960) by Liam B — 12 Aug 2007
I will never watch films the same way after seeing this. It is so intensely filled with ambiguity, religious and pagan symbolism, and multiple views into the core of the human spirit; and yet it is quite simple, almost theatrical.
The rape scene was quite modest compared to what you'd see in a movie today; but it was one of the most disturbing scenes. I saw this film about a week ago, and I still can't stop thinking about it.
A must see.
