Review of The Virgin Spring (1960) by Lee F — 24 May 2008
Not as well known as some of Bergman's other work, which is a pity...Virgin Spring is a great companion piece to Seventh Seal, and another chance to witness the amazing range of the immortal Max von Sydow.
Watching him slam the young brother of his daughter's killers into a wall is among the great moments in film history. Fascinating exploration of paganism vs. Christianity. A revenge spectacle that deserves a look.
