Review of The Virgin Spring (1960) by Noah R — 09 Jul 2009
It's a revenge story that doesn't get off on the violence like most in this genre. Like all of the great Bergman films, it takes its characters and themes seriously, doesn't feel the need to turn up the energy just to please the lowest common denominator.
Another great collaboration with Max von Sydow and the first of many with the Sven Nykvist.
