Review of The Virgin Spring (1960) by Kaleb T — 20 May 2011
This is a good movie to watch while you're waiting for the end of the world to happen. It is an extremely bleak and critical look at religion and how God allows evil things that happen to good people.
This was the basis for Wes Craven's 1972 horror film, "The Last House on the Left." While Craven's film was definitely darker and more difficult to watch, "The Virgin Spring" nonetheless leaves you feeling empty inside.
It does, however, leave off with a symbol of hope and the idea that good can come out of even the worst of situations.
