Terrible, terrible US remake of a Dutch movie. Please do yourself a favor and watch the original. They tried to make an action thriller with a happy ending for the popcorn-guzzling masses and I guess they succeeded. If you are looking for a gripping thriller with an ending that will remain in your memory for years to come, see the original.
FYI, to find the original movie on this site, search for "Spoorloos" (the Dutch title). it's not even coming up in searches if you search for "The Vanishing"!
