Review of The Vampire Lovers (1970) by Will E — 19 Apr 2012

One of my top ten favourite Hammer films and one of my half dozen or so favourite vampire films. Ingrid Pitt and Madeline Smith are both stunningly gorgeous, and both give excellent performances, especially Ingrid, who is much better here than in COUNTESS DRACULA.

Also in top form is Peter Cushing, as the ruthless vampire hunter. Like many contempotaneous lesbian vampire films, LOVERS seems to suggest the idea of lesbianism is just as threatening as the idea of vampirism.
