Review of The Vampire Lovers (1970) by Josh M — 16 Feb 2011
Thoroughly enjoyable horror film with Hammer upping its gore factor for the 70s with addition of a couple of beheadings and upping the sex factor with a bunch of bared breasts and strong lesbian tendencies!
Ingrid Pitt is the perpetrator of the goings on embedding herself in a family where she starts grooming and converting the young women into vampires. Pitt is striking in her looks and this is arguably her best role in a career mostly dedicated to horror genre. Sadly she recently passed away. Peter Cushing adds his weight with a good performance only 7 years before appearing in Star Wars.
Finally the film benefits from a great gothic score and some atmospheric visuals. A must see for genre fans.
