Review of The Upside of Anger (2005) by Thomas A — 19 Jul 2008
I have very mixed feelings reviewing this film. First of all - why do Costner ALWAYS have to play a part where he is a former baseball star? He could be any ex-sport-star - why baseball? AGAIN? The sport itself had nothing to do with the plot or the flow of the story.
.. He could have been an ex-curling-star? A synchronized swimmer? It really annoys me and automaically means one star deducted when I rate it... when that is said I must also say that it really had its moments.
Fun. Tragic. Moving. But there is something about the camera-angels; about the way that it is shot that makes me fel that the director is trying to manipulate my emotions - it is deliberately coming of as trying to be a real chick-flick; too touchy-feely.
I don`t like that. But as I said - it had some real great moments and the acting wasn`t half bad...
