Review of The Umbrellas of Cherbourg (1964) by Mel M — 23 Jan 2005
Yeah...haven't been on here in awhile. School has taken over my life, once more, and I haven't really watched any movies.
THE AGE OF INNOCENCE (1993).
We had to read this book for school and then we watched the movie. I had already read it, and I already seen the movie but I'm completely obsessed with the book and I love the movie, so I was happy.
I think AOI is one of the greatest literary adaptations out there. It not only keeps the essence and tone of the novel, but it really sticks with the storyline. And I think it just proves Scorsese's genius - he can make so many great films in so many different genres.
LES PARAPLUIES DE CHERBOURG (1964).
It happened to be TCM's import of the week. It is my favourite movie and I've seen it a million times, but here I was, 2 am, watching it again.
I love the colors, I love the music, I love that every line is sung, I love the train station scene, I love Catherine Deneuve, I love Demy's direction.
PRINCESS DIARIES II (2004).
Okay, I was babysitting. I still haven't seen the entire first film. But it was alright. Anne Hathaway or whatever her name is quite annoying, but Julie Andrews is great and the male lead is cute. And it kept the kids somewhat entertained.
Now...I have a million things to do. Haircuit, homework, shopping, and I need to finish L'AVVENTURA.
Adieu.
