Simply put, one of the most beautiful movies ever made. Though the style may take a while to get used to, and though it may at first appear to be another saccharine romance, it ends up being far, far more. The viewer is rewarded with one of the most intelligent and mature treatments of young love ever captured on film. Bittersweet; at once heartbreaking and joyful.
The music, the cinematography, the acting - there's not a false note to be found.
And that final shot... My goodness, that final shot is one of the most beautiful in the history of cinema.
