Review of The Umbrellas of Cherbourg (1964) by Aaron G — 02 Jul 2016
Perhaps the most fabulously colorful film imaginable, and the film achieved the impossible for me, it made me accept its use of singing throughout. The music was superb, the cinematography is stunning, and the sets are incredible.
The story is overall pretty tepid, but the point is that the magnificence of the music and sets/color turns the hackneyed story into an operatic masterpiece.
