Review of The Umbrellas of Cherbourg (1964) by Dryorophus — 30 Nov 2009
I learned one think when I watched this film ...Never trust the critics...
When I saw the ratings for this film I desperately want to see it but it was really disappointment... For the first 20 minutes I pushed my self ??You must see it, You must see ...don't close dvd" But unfortunately nothing is changed so I gave up... The only think I remember is the angel face of Catherine Deneuve and the great colours but is that enough? Dialogue set to music and the story was so predictable and so poor... I didn?t see acting or performances or script or direction (to be honest the film had some good shots but that?s all). Sometimes it was so artificial and so fake and that I took great pains to watch it. I never saw a film like this before so weird and so strange? All the emotions are covered by monotonous songs?. One flixter friend said ?If you don't like this, then you don't like movies ? And I have to say that one movie is not all the cinema and If I must like this film to be a true movies lover then I prefer to stay just friend?.
