An operatic musical about a young French couple. Upon the eve of their eloping, Guy gets drafted. When Genevieve discovers she's pregnant, she marries a rich paramour. Years later, the two finally meet up again, but decide their lives are better apart.
This film is full of vibrant colors and the gamut of emotions, but with a very modern & pleasing ending. Catherine Deneuve is absolutely wonderful.
