Review of The Truman Show (1998) by Bradley W — 26 Aug 2012
The Truman Show is a brilliant masterpiece and is Peter Weir's best film. I love the ideas in the film, I love the incrediblenperformance from Jim Carrey, and I love how brilliantly Peter Weir directs the movie.
It amazes me how far the scale of this movie goes to bring out this idea of a man's entire life being a TV show. Every scene has an essence about it that makes us feel sympathy for this good hearted and confused man, who has been formed into a man that producers and writers have wanted him to be.
Jim Carrey is incredible and makes each scene memorable and great, and this would probably be the best performance of his career. I was surprised such a funny comedian could take on a dramatic role, but he knocks it out of the park.
I love how the film grows more and more interesting as it forms into a full fleshed masterpiece, and this will truly have you interested from start to finish.
