Review of The Trip to Bountiful (1985) by Chris H — 12 Jul 2007
A couple of disclaimers...first, I saw this movie about 20 years ago. Second, many of the religious, cultural, and geographic threads I recall in this film parallel those in my own roots, so it might be easier for me to connect with it than most.
That said, as stingy as I am with giving stars, I'm not going too far out on a limb. Geraldine Page won Best Actress for this, and I've read she got a standing ovation at the Oscars. Expect to shed at least a couple of tears, as its incredibly moving.
One of the best films you've never heard of.
