Review of The Trip to Bountiful (1985) by John S — 20 Jan 2008
Geraldine Page's best work ever. This is a heart breaking story about an elderly woman's journey back to her hometown named Bountiful. Great Texas scenery. It deals with the aging process and family values. A truly great scene is when Geraldine Page sings the him "Blessed Assurance.".
This movie reminded me of how Millican Texas, in my family was viewed- a once great town that is dying. It is hard to comprehend that the home you have always had, physically and in your heart, is dying. I love this movie!
