Review of The Treasure of the Sierra Madre (1948) by Shawn M — 29 May 2009
A great movie that shows the dangers of greed. This has been done many times before and since, of course, but 'Treasure' has Humphrey Bogart, obviously a huge asset to any film. To see his character plummet in morality through the film, until he finally gets his comeuppance, is pitiful and heartbreaking.
.. and, due to his performance, highly entertaining. I particularly like the old man's little jig when they initially discover gold. So THAT'S what movies have been copying for 60 years!
