Review of The Tracey Fragments (2007) by Kenny S — 10 Nov 2009
Meh, nice bit of editing and an excellent performance by Ellen Page. Unfortunately this film reminded me of beatnik/postmodernist poetry..."The moon is unhappy...the man is a dog...the man is a dog.
..green fills the air...tomato" and I could see the beatniks sitting there with their berets and cigarettes w/ long filters snapping in applause. The why is explained at the beginning and you spend the entire rest of the movie waiting for the how, which arrives during the last 10 minutes of the movie.
This film could have worked for me if it was a little less disjointed, but the non-linear style combined with the extremely unique editing draws out a relatively simple story into a particularly incoherent mess.
