Review of The Three Caballeros (1944) by David F — 22 Nov 2011
I have to admit I was kinda disappointed by THE THREE CABALLEROS. I thought the first two shorts about the penguin who loved the sun and Burrito, the flying donkey, were cute, but hated that most of the film basically consisted of Donald perving over "exotic Latinas" - live-action ones no less.
Some of the more surreal stuff is pretty interesting visually, and I loved the title song, but some of the draftsmanship in the film is sub-par. For me, it didn't really hold up as a great film overall, even taking its origins into consideration.
It's a pity, because I think that Disney could have used the opportunity to make a top-tier film that really pimped the USA's neighbours to the south and this just doesn't really hold up at all.
