Review of The Three Burials of Melquiades Estrada (2005) by Gary S — 11 Dec 2007
Tommy Lee Jones' directorial debut is not only a tight modern western, but a beautifully costructed tale of revenge, retribution and friendship. It's a little difficult to figure out the time jumping narrative at first, but after 30 minutes I was sold! Tommy Lee Jones and Barry Pepper are amazing together and the simplistic western themes remain as powerful in modern times as in the spaggetti western.
Bravo!
