Review of The Three Burials of Melquiades Estrada (2005) by Kyle M — 15 Jan 2008
Tommy Lee Jones directs himself in a no-frills Western, that does not try to be anything else. This is quite refreshing. The character study draws you in, and although some might find it slow, I found it very intriguing to watch the characters interact with one another, especially when you are aware of certain things that the characters are not.
Tommy Lee Jones uses his usual mannerism and characteristics to create a different sort of character, who is not quite a hero, but not quite a villain, either. This is a very good film.
