Review of The Third Man (1949) by Dylan N — 17 Oct 2009
Sometimes you get to watch a film that just mesmerizes, amazes and captivates you like only great films can and this is one. The film combines seemingly endless film styles, with elements of neo-realism, expressionism, social realism, noir and a documentary realism all coming together perfectly.
The film is shot exquisitely in black and white and they deftly used tilted angles and frames to great effect. Everyone in the cast is great and plays their roles to perfection. I do wish Ingrid Bergman had played the role of Anna but Valli was still good.
And the score gets stuck in your head permanently. This film is one of the best I have ever seen and I cannot wait to watch it again and again!
