Review of The Third Man (1949) by Jeff L — 18 Apr 2012
The first piece of truly modern filmmaking, where all the elements blend together to create something greater than the sum of its parts. It is modern in that there are two very visible extra characters appearing in central roles, the Vienna location and the viewpoint of the camera itself, and the unique, unconventional score makes the film stand out.
It also contains an exceptional climactic chase sequence, and is a master exponent of the ambiguous morality presented by many noir films. A masterpiece.
