Review of The Third Man (1949) by Mike B — 26 Sep 2012
I saw this again this afternoon, 30 years or so after I first came across it, & had completely forgotten just how good this film was.
It's so good i'm writing this review, within minutes of watching the final scene.
IMHO, the Third Man is an astonishing film - decades ahead of its time in terms of style, sentiment & presentation, blessed with exceptional performances & a gripping multi-layed story. It's clever, inventive, atmospheric & gripping. If you've ever wondered why Orson Wells became the legend that he became watch this film.
Unlike many alleged masterpieces, this film fully merits its reputation.
Easily one of the greatest films ever made.
