The Thing from Another World is a solid horror flick but little more. James Arness' giant carrot cannot quite generate the kind of fear that John Carpenter's The Thing would 30 years later. The remake was justified however that's not to say that this isn't an entertaining film.
It is, it just isn't a great film.
