The Thing expectedly utilizes as many cheap "BOO!" scares as it can and drastically increases the use of CGI, choosing to replicate every other modern Hollywood remake (or in this case, "prequel") in stead of restore the thrills that made John Carpenter's 1980 remake a hell of a lot scarier.
