If you're expecting to see what happened before the 1982 movie you'll be greatly disappointed. Having seen both in the same week, I had questions fresh in my mind. I have realized now that the Director would have hoped that everyone had forgotten these questions in the past 30 years.
Did that guy cut his own throat? (unanswered) How did the Thing become the dog? (last minute/unanswered) Who were the guys in the Helicopter? (last minute/sort of answered) Pretty much everything you saw in the 1982 The Thing about the Norwegian research team is barely in the movie...if even that.
