Review of The Thing (1982) by John D — 11 Jul 2013
One of the best survival horror genre movies and that is saying a lot, considering The Things siblings are Dawn of the Dead and Aliens at the top of the food chain. The suspense and character development is fantastic.
The special effects are about as dynamic they could be before CG and adds a quality, together with the film it was shot with, that is all its own. Kurt Russell is a good anti hero. The final monster encounter leaves a bit to be desired but it was the ride that counted.
If it had an epic confrontation like Aliens it would be 5 star, that's how good it is. Very underrated.
