Review of The Thing (1982) by Luca D — 11 Nov 2015
WHOA! Still shockingly gritty, grim and completely thrilling, it's dark, slimy, wince-inducing and stunningly visual with a high creepiness factor.
From the director of the 1978 Halloween and 1984 Starman - two favs - this powerhouse shocker was created between both in 1982.
The brilliance of this film is that the direction, acting, and script hide firmly behind the brooding, claustrophobic atmosphere. The terrifying effects grip your attention, wether you like it or not, and holds the tension perfectly.
Equal parts action, horror, and suspense, this testosterone fueled flick gives a one-two punch, then keeps you guessing about the next of each new hit.
Gory and disturbing - yes, so no kids or sensitive eyes, but this rollercoaster is a wild ride if you can stand the creative shocks.
5 out of 5.
