John Carpenter's greatest film. Dark, heavy, profound and ugly. One of my favorite films of all time. Interesting how it sits at 80% on RT now. When it came out, critics roundly trashed it one calling it "pornography.
" It has been reassessed over the past 30-some years. Yet another film where upon its release the critics got it wrong. A shame the reviews were so vicious they got him fired from Universal.
