Review of The Thin Man (1934) by Bec H — 27 Jun 2007
The original Thin Man movie is perhaps slightly better than the rest, however the entire series are fantastic. The banter between Powell & Loy is witty & fabulous (& oft re-created in movies such as His Girl Friday & Bringing Up Baby).
Based on the Dashiell Hammett novel of the same name, this movie fabulously imagines the hard-boiled detective & his spunky girl in the characters of Nick & Nora: perhaps the most entertaining detective couple in cinema history.
Over 60 years later, Powell's sarcastic barbs are still funny. Brilliant & addictive!
