Review of The Thin Man (1934) by Bill T — 16 Jun 2009
About as perfext as movies can get, The Thin Man has Powell and Loy as Nick and Nora Charles, a pair of roaring boozehounds just living the ridiculous life they lead. Nck used to be a detective, and when a body turns up, Nora nags him until he agrees to figure whodunit.
This film has everything, great mystery, a bit of gangland violence, banter you could not believe, and a ridiculously big cast. Probably didn`t catch half what was going on, but that`s the amazing part of this movie.
Yoiu could never make a movie like this today (I mean, Nick purposely knocks Nora out at one point just to get her out of the range of fire).
