Review of The Thin Blue Line (1988) by Stephen C — 05 Aug 2008
One of the most amazing Documentaries ever made by a Master of the craft Errol Morris.
This film shows how the Murder of Dallas Policeofficer 1n 1976 lead to one man Randall Adams being sent to death row ,While the Supposed Killer David Harris was left to commit more crime and ulitmately commit another murder some 9 years after this one.
Morris shows the case from both sides using dramatic Re-enactments of the shooting according to Witness and both Mens accounts.
The trouble as Morris shows us is the stories differ wildly and some of the Witnesses are less than savoury.
Morris also interviews the Police connected with the case and again asks vital questions about there methods,But leaves the viewer to draw there own conclusions.
Adams comes across as A well spoken decent chap while Harris chills the blood with his slanted view on the world.
Add to this a great score From Phillip Glass and the knowledge this film was one of the causes of Adams being released and you have a vital piece of filmaking.
